About This Tour

Built for people who travel with a camera bag, not a beach bag. This 7-day photography safari trades the standard two-drives-a-day pace for extended golden-hour sessions, a vehicle with a modified roof and beanbag supports, and a guide who reads light and animal behaviour, not just a species checklist. Small groups only — a maximum of 6 photographers per vehicle — so nobody is fighting for a window.

Itinerary

Depart Nairobi and drive to the Maasai Mara, arriving in time to test camera settings on an afternoon orientation drive as the light softens toward evening.

Out before dawn to position at likely predator territory for first light, back to camp through the heat of the day, then out again for the golden hour. Your guide prioritises light and behaviour over ticking species off a list.

A full day around the resident wildebeest and zebra herds (or, in season, the river crossings), with your guide reading herd movement to anticipate action before it happens.

A lighter day to review and back up images, with one well-timed session rather than two — useful for editing and for resting ahead of the second half of the trip.

Focused time with the Mara's resident lion prides and, when active, leopard along the riverine forest — patient, unhurried positioning rather than a rushed drive-by.

You choose the focus for your final full day, working with your guide on whichever subject or location has produced the best light or action so far.

One last dawn session, then breakfast, check-out, and the drive back to Nairobi.

No — this trip is paced and guided for serious photography, but travellers with any camera (including advanced phone photographers) are welcome. What matters more is wanting extended light sessions over a standard drive schedule.

An open-sided 4x4 with a raised roof for standing shots and beanbag supports on the window rails to stabilise long lenses — standard safari vehicles don't offer either.

A maximum of 6 photographers per vehicle, so everyone gets a window and nobody has to shoot over someone else's shoulder.
