Serengeti National Park

The Serengeti is the Maasai Mara's vastly larger southern twin, sprawling across northern Tanzania in one continuous, unfenced ecosystem that wildlife cross freely between the two countries. Its name comes from the Maasai word "siringet," meaning "the place where the land runs forever" — an apt description for plains that stretch to the horizon in every direction. The Serengeti is the primary stage for the Great Migration for much of the year, hosting over two million wildebeest and zebra in an endless search for fresh grazing, trailed by the highest density of lion in Africa. Beyond the migration, the park holds resident populations of the Big Five, cheetah hunting across open grassland, and some of the best big-cat photography on the continent. HOLYLAND visits the Serengeti as part of our 10-Day Kenya & Tanzania Grand Circuit Safari, crossing overland from the Maasai Mara before continuing on to the Ngorongoro Crater.
